Anyone can get pregnant - it isn't particularly clever and this view that having babies is absolutely essential for "total fulfillment" is particularly abhorrent and alien to me not to mention primitive. On the other hand, in this day and age, I don't think abortion should ever be used as an alternative to contraception. "Well, the procedure is delicate", says the doctor. "It's important to know how long it has been since conception..." The mom looks at her annoying 11YO and thinks for a while... "136 months!" she finally answers. ---- Abortions in Israel ARE pretty much automatic, even for married women, but that's not a solution for child abuse. the solution to that is education, like force every parent to participate in some small, interactive group with a sotial parenting. call it "basic parenting lessons" that are a must if you want to get child pension from the state, and the social workers get to see what kind of people are showing up...
